Choosing a seat on an airplane can be difficult for many people. Passengers often decide not only between choosing a window seat or an aisle seat, but also between the question of whether to pay for the advantage of more legroom. She also joined this discussion flight attendant who revealed why she always reserves seats in the fifth row of the planewrites .
Rosie Awad, who has worked for the airline for ten years, shares which seats she always reserves and avoids when traveling on the Boeing 737-800. “I would always choose row 5 by the window. It’s a great view, you can see the wing of the plane, you have extra legroom, there are no emergency exit dutiesyou can put your bag under the seat in the front, it’s close to disembarkation and it’s one of the first rows where flight service is served…” she explained.
Rosie also shared the worst place for both passengers and crew, which can lead to awkward situations for staff. “The worst place (for the crew) is seat 1R (in the front of the plane). You are facing the cabin, looking at the passengers. They’re looking at you… It can turn into an awkward staring contest. The worst seat for passengers should be the last row or any row next to the toilet. I think it’s pretty clear why I chose him!” she clarified.
Earlier, another flight attendant shared three ways customers can “sneak” into the first class cabin for free. Cierra Mist, who posts videos about her life as a flight attendant on TikTok, gave viewers some helpful tips on how to get an upgrade.
Sharing her first tip, she advised that a simple gesture of kindness can earn you a golden ticket to a more luxurious part of the plane. “We do wonders if people give us some Starbucks or chocolate when we haven’t even had time to eat,” Cierra revealed.
“Another common way is that if the flight is not full, we move people up to the front of the plane to make sure the plane is balanced. This means that if you are sitting in the back of the plane in an area that is heavily occupied, you might get lucky and be asked to move up to first class,” the flight attendant explained.
Cierra also revealed one last tip that you might be lucky to get an upgrade depending on your job. “If you are the so-called a ‘capable person’ such as a doctor, nurse, firefighter or police officer, basically anyone who can respond and help cabin crewthen you can get a free upgrade if you tell the staff at check-in how you can help if needed. Even if we can’t upgrade you to first class, we will always try to seat you in the exit row where you have more legroom so you can react faster if we need your help,” she advised passengers.
