The US plan to 'deter' Russia with bombers begins

The United States deployed four B-52 Stratofortress of its Air Force to RAF Faidord, in England, on November 8in a joint exercise with the Finnish F-18 Hornets and the Swedish JAS 39 Gripens.

“This Bomber Task Force mission exemplifies our unwavering commitment to our European allies and partners,” said Gen. James Hecker, commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa. “Together, we will build stronger and more strategic relationships that reinforce security and stability throughout the region,” he highlighted.

The main objective of these missions, in addition to demonstrating the capabilities of American bombers, is to improve strategic predictability, as the commander explained. “Through these missions, we will not only demonstrate the global reach of our bomber forces, but also the strength of our collective partnerships in Europe,” he detailed.

Furthermore, as Hecker reported, these types of exercises They serve as a sign of American support for NATO allies and also as a form of nuclear deterrent. “Our ability to work side by side with allies is a key advantage,” the commander highlighted. “This sends a message of confidence to our friends and at the same time deters possible aggressive actions by strategic competitors,” he added.
