Attack in Moscow: teenager joked, parents go to court

Young Russian joked about the terrorist attack on the concert hall in Crocus. Now his parents face criminal charges.

The attack on Crocus City Hall left the Russia in shock and in a state of alert. The attack killed around 150 people.

It’s a serious matter, with the Kremlin suggesting that Ukraine was behind that night of terror in March this year.

But, months later, there were those who decided to play. Last Saturday a video was published on Telegram in which two teenagers from Vladimir suggest a second terrorist attack in the same location.

“Hello, our dear followers! […] We’re here at Crocus City Hall. Let’s carry out a terrorist attack. Cool!”, say the young women, as they walk through the site’s car park.

The video soon created many criticism, even among some figures in Russian politics and society, indicates .

The next day, the Moscow Investigative Committee that the authorities were already looking of the two young women.

Two days later, the Interior Ministry in Vladimir published videos of the two teenagers apologize for the joke.

“The girls explained that the video was originally posted on a private conversation. However, it was later shared on public channels,” Russian authorities announced.

On the same day, the mother of one of the young women was accused by the police because “did not fulfill his parental duties”.

Three days later, this Tuesday, investigators opened a criminal case against the parents of the same 17-year-old girl. With other allegations in between.

“The parents did not fulfill their duties of educating the minor, who had a antisocial lifestyle and consumed alcohol and drugs”, quotes the newspaper Izvestia.

It is not yet known what sentence the teenager’s parents may face.
