The Brazilian team players will have the day off in Salvador and will only have to report back on Saturday (16) for lunch. The first training session for the match with Uruguay, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, is scheduled for 5pm on Saturday, at the Barradão stadium.
Tuesday’s match (19), at Arena Fonte Nova, will mark the team’s return to the capital of Bahia. The team has not played in the city since June 2019, when they drew goalless with Venezuela, at Arena Fonte Nova, in the Copa América.
The players were welcomed by fans in front of the hotel where the team will be staying. Coach Dorival Junior and player Vini Jr. took photos and signed autographs to the people of Salvador who were waiting upon arrival in the city.
After the Brazilian team’s disappointing draw with Venezuela, coach Dorival Júnior will need to make at least one change for Brazil’s last game of the year, the coach.
The change will take place on the right flank because Vanderson received his second yellow card in these qualifiers, in the 1-1 draw with Venezuela, in Maturín, on Thursday. Without the starter, Dorival will have two options: he can return Danilo to the starting position or he will announce a new squad only for the game against the Uruguayans.
Vanderson took the new yellow in the first half. He hit Martínez in the 35th minute, neutralizing a Venezuelan counterattack. The player has been establishing himself on the right flank since earning the chance to start in the 4-0 defeat of Peru in the last round of the Qualifiers.
Despite this, he could receive a new chance, in Vanderson’s place on Tuesday, the 19th. Interestingly, Danilo himself is hanging, as are Ederson and Bruno Guimarães.
Dorival, however, could surprise by calling up a reinforcement for the team. In the previous FIFA Data, the national team coach made use of a new call-up to solve a problem in midfield. At the time, he called Matheus Pereira to replace Lucas Paquetá, who was suspended.
Brazil has 17 points and temporarily occupies third place in the South American Qualifiers.
