Security cameras captured Francisco Vanderlei Luiz’s movements

Security cameras captured the movements of Francisco Vanderlei Luiz, the person responsible for the attack on the (STF). The images reveal Francisco entering the Chamber of Deputies at 8:15 am last Wednesday (13), wearing a hat, jeans and flip-flops. After going through the building’s identification and security, a process that lasted around 40 seconds, at 8:16 am, he continued to the security stage. He placed personal equipment in the x-ray machine and then passed through the metal detector.

The author was seen again at 7:25 pm, already outside, walking towards Praça dos Três Poderes. Shortly afterwards, his vehicle exploded in the parking lot of Annex 4 of the Chamber. Cameras recorded the explosion and the subsequent rush, with firefighters and police quickly arriving at the scene to contain the situation.

The Congress security system also captured the explosions that occurred near the STF at 7:30 pm. First, a security guard notices the strange movement and goes towards Francisco. Afterwards, he moves away from the security guards and throws fireworks towards the statue, but misses the target. Afterwards, he throws an explosive towards the STF building and more reinforcements approach. Francisco lights an artifact, lies on the floor with the bomb near his head, which then explodes.

Willy Hauffe, president of the National Association of Federal Criminal Experts, stated that security worked, but highlighted that the public parking lot where the incident occurred is of common access, which makes it difficult to implement more stringent restrictions and the authorities’ response was immediate and blunt.

Minister Alexandre de Moraes classified the action as a terrorist act, regretting the attempt to trivialize the seriousness of what happened. Minister Gilmar Mendes highlighted that the attack represents yet another attack on democracy, fueled by hate speech and political fanaticism fueled by the previous government.

Minister Flávio Dino guaranteed that the explosions will not intimidate the STF, while the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo GoNet, promised a rigorous investigation and severe punishments for those responsible. Vice President Geraldo Alckmin considered the day sad and serious, highlighting the need for a quick and rigorous investigation of the facts.

In response to the attack, a joint operation between civil police officers from Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo was carried out, resulting in the execution of search warrants and the seizure of two cell phones, several pen drives, 2 tablets and computers that will undergo technical expertise.
