EU fines Target almost R$5 billion for classified ads

This Thursday (14), the European Commission imposed a fine of 797.72 million euros (around R$5 billion) on Facebook’s parent company, alleging that the North American company illegally linked its advertising platform classifieds, known as Marketplace, to the social network.

Meta said it will appeal the fine from the commission, which is the executive arm and antitrust oversight body of the European Union.

“This decision ignores the reality of the thriving European market for online classifieds listing services,” reacted the company.

At 3:45 pm (Brasília time), Meta’s shares were down 1.20% in New York.
