Afterwards, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that the security scheme planned by the federal government for the G20 Leaders’ Summit, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), over the next week, is maintained.
Itamaraty’s press office highlighted that, as of this Thursday (14), it is the Armed Forces that operate in the Law and Order Guarantee (GLO) operation in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
As far as the department is concerned, preparations involving the security of the event are continuing as planned.

GLO
In a statement, the Ministry of Defense informed that a force of 9 thousand men will work in the GLO operation during the G20 Leaders’ Summit, which takes place on Monday (18) and Tuesday (19), in Rio.
Military personnel from the Navy, Army and Brazilian Air Force (FAB) will work to secure the delegations on the external perimeter of the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), Marina da Glória, the Monument to Estácio de Sá and the places where the delegations of the heads of state.
Decree No. 12,243 was signed by the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and seeks to reinforce the security of delegations around the event venue, which will host 19 member countries, in addition to the African Union and the European Union, totaling 56 delegations.

“The work of the military will take place in conjunction with federal public security bodies and the state of Rio de Janeiro. The GLO ends on November 21st”, informs the ministry in the statement.
