Bad luck never comes alone. Rod was desperate to find Kim and criminals took advantage of his search for a van.
The hurricane killed hundreds of people, injured many others, and also hundreds of people disappeared.
One of them is Kim Ashby, who was at home in Elk Park, North Carolina, when the house was washed away. This was at the end of September.
Your husband, Rod Ashby was obviously desperate to find to your wife. And that’s when he had another serious problem.
Daughter Ansley Ashby explained the case to: her father was also left without his van and I needed a van with four-wheel drive to drive the flooded Elk River roads.
He started looking for the van and was going to pay with the money he received from the insurance. I wanted the vehicle quickly, Of course, but I also wanted to try to avoid spending all the money I had – especially because I know I would need more money later.
While looking for a good deal, found one on the internet dealer of automobiles which sold recovered vehicles to prices below market value.
Or, at least, the website indicated it was one of those spaces.
He spoke on the phone, exchanged emails, received a contract, an invoice and sent 40,000 dollars (almost 38,000 euros).
Everything was going well and quickly.
Until, two days after payment, he saw that The van I had bought was still for sale after all.on the same website.
A daughter He called the seller (from another number) and pretended he also wanted to buy the van. “Yes, yes, it is available”they responded.
It was then that the family realized: they were victims of fraud. The car dealership exists – the owner of the real space has received several calls about the same scam. But that one website is fake; or it was, because it has since been deleted.
So, they informed the bank but they were unable to recover the money. Not even with a complaint to the police, who are investigating the case.
Conclusion: Rod Ashby doesn’t know where his wife is, his three dogs are, he’s left without his house and he’s left without $40,000.
