It’s a never-ending affair and the end of a beautiful story between one of the most important French radio stations and a very popular host. found himself in conflict with NRJ, where he worked from 2018 to 2023, before the channel, following the cases against him, decided to dismiss the 52-year-old man. In agreement with him at first. , three of whom were minors at the time of the alleged acts – accusations which he contests – the native of Saint-Quentin (Aisne) was presented to an investigating judge and the judicial investigation is currently continuing.
However, following these accusations, Cauet has repeatedly claimed to be the victim of cyberharassment, slanderous denunciation and attempts at extortion. He filed a complaint, leading to the opening of two preliminary investigations in Nanterre, for which he had filed a complaint in October 2023. On October 8, 2024, and had attempted extortion was in police custody.
It should be remembered that Sébastien Cauet had filed a complaint in October 2023 against those who wanted to extort funds from him and, faced with his refusal, would have carried out “their threats” and that criminal proceedings were initiated…
At the same time, it is in open conflict with NRJ and last May it lost the case between them before the commercial court. A as his lawyer explained at the time. The host had decided to take the radio station to court before the commercial court, considering that the contract which linked the radio station to his production company, Be Aware, had been wrongfully terminated. But the one we saw decided not to stop there by taking the case to the Paris Court of Appeal, which delivered its verdict this Friday, November 15.
Cauet dismissed by the Paris Court of Appeal
This is a second setback for Sébastien Cauet since the latter rejected the host who demanded not far from 4.5 million euros to NRJ. The lawyer for the star and his production company, Me Frédéric Lamoureux, did not take long to react. “The decision rendered today (…) causes deep disappointment”he says, before adding: “It is legitimate to expect our judicial system to stand as a bulwark against media trials, which respect neither the framework nor the fairness of justice. Unfortunately, this dam seems to have given way.”
A very different story on the radio side, which “welcomes the decision rendered today by the Paris Court of Appeal” which opposes him to the host, which we say, in a press release published this Friday. “The Court of Appeal confirmed that the return conditions on the air of Sébastien Cauet and his daily broadcast in normal and serene conditions not being more unitedit is right that NRJ was forced, in January 2024, to note the obsolescence of the agreements concluded with the host and his company”, adds NRJ in its press release.
Cauet remains presumed innocent of the charges against him until the case is closed.
