“Some popular breakfasts can significantly raise levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol,” notes nutritionist Anna Rule. The expert explains that certain meals, although considered healthy, can negatively affect the bodies of people with atherosclerosis and other heart diseases. Among such, she lists mozzarella with tomatoes.

– I would avoid these three breakfasts if I have elevated levels of bad cholesterol,” she says. For many people, this combination may come as a surprise, because the meals give the impression of being valuable and well-balanced. And in fact, for some people it may not be a bad choice. However, with high cholesterol problems, it is better to opt for something else.

Mozzarella with tomatoes seems healthy, after all, we have protein and vegetables. However, Anna Rule points out that there is little fiber and a lot of saturated fatty acids in such a meal. A poor choice, too, would be Greek yogurt with random granola and honey. – A lot of added sugars and not a very good option in terms of fatty acid profile,” he says.

The last breakfast is croissants with cheese and ham, which provide quite a lot of saturated fatty acids and little fiber. The expert also mentions the risk of consuming trans fats.

Croissants, fried sausages or toast with butter and jam – although delicious, may not be conducive to your heart health

– warns Anna Rule.
