With a show by the duo Enner Valencia, from Internacional, and Gonzalo Plata, from Flamengo, the Ecuadorian team beat Bolivia 4-0, on Thursday night (14), at the Monumental Stadium Isidro Romero Carbo, in Guayaquil, in the Qualifiers for the World Cup.
The Internacional striker scored a goal and made two assists. , in turn, found the net twice. Alan Minda closed the scoring.
In this way, with 16 points won. The team appears one unit behind Brazil, in third place.
Bolivia, in turn, remained in eighth place, with 12 units counted. The Bolivians have the same score as seventh place, Venezuela, which has a higher balance (-2 to -14) and, for now, occupies the playoff spot for the 2026 World Cup.
For the 12th round of the South American Qualifiers, next Tuesday (19), Ecuador visits Colombia, at 8pm (Brasília time), at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium. Bolivia returns to the pitch, on the same day, at 5pm, to host Paraguay, at the El Alto Municipal Stadium.
The game
In the 20th minute of the first half, José Sagredo, a Bolivian defender, touched the ball with his hand inside the penalty area and the referee awarded the penalty. The visitor was sent off and Enner Valencia took over the penalty. The attacker didn’t waste anything and, at 26, opened the scoring.
Two minutes later, at 28, Ecuador, with one more on the field, increased the advantage. Inside the penalty area, Enner Valencia played deep to Gonzalo Plata, who finished off Bolivian goalkeeper Vizcarra.
Still in the initial stage, in the 44th minute, Enner Valencia scored his second goal of the match, however, due to offside, the shot was disallowed.
In the complementary stage, in the 4th minute, Ecuador scored the third goal. Enner Valencia made a great move inside the penalty area and placed the ball perfectly for Gonzalo Plata. The Flamengo player hit first time with his left-handed shot, giving Vizcarra no chance.
Ecuador didn’t stop there and scored the fourth goal in the 15th minute. Alan Minda received a pass from Pedro Vite on the left and, outside the penalty area, finished with his right leg into the bottom left corner of the Bolivian goalkeeper, which he did not reach.
