“We are very proud to have been able to carry out this historic vote. We thank everyone who participated and who lived with us in an election that revisits the history of Portuguese music in recent years. Having two hundred personalities from the sector, from such varied areas, who quickly agreed to participate in this vote, proved to us the strength that the Blitz brand has”, said the publication’s director, Miguel Cadete, quoted in a statement.
The special edition of the magazine will have “a total of 132 pages, the best photographs published over these 40 years will be chosen, as well as the most relevant covers since the iconic number 1, with Siouxsie and the Bansheeseven those that aroused the most interest and controversy in both the newspaper and the magazine”.
“In this issue, the most important moments of live music in Portugal are recorded. From the first festivals (Southwest) to big stadium shows (Taylor Swift). From the modern music competitions at Rock Rendez Vous to the apotheosis of Portugal Ao Vivo in Alvalade. The duet between Mick Jagger and Bruce Springsteen at Rock in Rio is also present, and that of Prince and Ana Moura at Super Bock Super Rock as well. As well as the remarkable performances by David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Coldplay and Metallica in large stadiums. Or the internationalization of Madredeus. Or the legendary Smashing Pumpkins concert at the Cascais Bullring”, the statement read.
Blitz also remembers that, on December 12th, it will celebrate its 40th anniversary at a party at the MEO Arena, in Lisbon, with Xutos & Pontapés, Capitão Fausto, Gisela João and Maro.
