Flamengo won the Copa do Brasil title last weekend, beating Atlético-MG 1-0 at Arena MRV. However, the achievement was overshadowed by the news involving striker Gabigol.
After announcing that he would not remain at Rubro-Negro from 2025 onwards and GE finding that the striker would be in agreement with Cruzeiro, a turnaround involving his renewal could indicate that Gabigol, in fact, could still be a Flamengo player for the next few years.

Why can Gabigol still be a Flamengo player in 2025?
Among the various disagreements involving the striker and Flamengo’s management, one of the main points is the length of Gabigol’s contract. The player would like to sign for multiple years, however, Rodolfo Landim, president of the club, and its directors, would only have offered the athlete one year.
According to the newspaper O Tempo, the situation, however, would have changed. The board would be willing to offer a year with the right to automatic renewal for two more seasons. For this renewal to be carried out, Gabigol would have to reach goals involving the number of matches played, goals scored and even titles won.
Current Flamengo coach, Filipe Luís would be in favor of the player remaining, despite the confusion of recent days.
The decision, according to O Tempo, would be in the athlete’s hands.

Where will Gabigol play in 2025? Interested clubs
As soon as Gabigol announced his departure from Flamengo, Cruzeiro emerged as the striker’s likely destination. But this is not yet defined. There are more clubs in competition.
Will Gabigol play for Cruzeiro?
Cruzeiro remains the most likely destination for Gabigol. He has a deal underway with Raposa and should be the club’s main reinforcement for next season.
At the Minas Gerais team, he will receive double what he earned at Flamengo – the amount will be around R$3 million per month. But the contract is not signed. And Cruzeiro has reached the limit: the proposal has been made, and the club does not intend to enter into an auction for Gabigol.

Will Gabigol play for Santos?
The news of Gabigol’s move to Cruzeiro stirred up Santos, the club where the player was revealed. The Santos board confirms, clearly, that it is also trying to sign the attacker.
According to the website “ge”, Peixe directors understand that the club’s proposal is greater than that made by Cruzeiro. Santos’ idea is to give the number 10 shirt to Gabigol and make him the big reinforcement for 2025.
