This Friday, the DGAE published the final placement lists for the Extraordinary External Competition, aimed at schools classified as needy, with difficulty attracting teachers to staff.

According to data from (DGAE), 1,822 vacancies were occupied, which represents 78.9% of the 2,309 Pedagogical Zone Staff (QZP) vacancies in dispute.

“The vacancies that remain unfilled do not represent students without classes, as they are QZP vacancies and not school schedules”, said the ministry in the press release.

In addition to this competition, the Government also launched, as an additional measure to mitigate the situation of students without classes, a financial incentive for teachers to travel to schools in need.

The Ministry of Education highlighted that 234 schools in need were identified, allowing their teachers to benefit from travel support, which varies between 150 euros and 450 euros, depending on the distance between the tax residence and the educational establishment where the teacher is based. .

This support will be paid for 11 months and covers all teachers placed in those schools, regardless of their employment status and recruitment group.

The Government defined the goal, within the scope of the “+Aulas+Sucesso” Plan, to reduce, at the end of the first period, by 90% the number of students without classes since the beginning of the school year, in relation to 2023/2024.
