The Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, stated this Friday (15) that the package will be “responsible pruning” on a tree that is growing, without a “electric saw”.

The government is evaluating a series of public expenditure adjustment measures to balance the budget in the coming years. However, for the proposals to be announced.

Padilha highlighted that defining the date is the prerogative of President Lula (PT). “Every tree that is growing needs to be pruned in a responsible, organized way, so that the fruits become bigger and the roots stronger”, compared the minister after participating in the G20 Social.

In this case, according to him, “an electric pruner, a trimmer, but not an electric saw, a chain should be used to fell the entire tree as has often been done”.

Padilha stated that the government wants to “preserve the country’s growth path” and listed the economic results since the beginning of the administration.

“Brazil has grown at 3% per year for two consecutive years, something that hasn’t happened in a decade. It has the lowest unemployment rate since 2012, with inflation being maintained at inflation targets. There was this oscillation recently, but it was maintained. Public and private investment in the country increased, the wage bill increased”, he highlighted.

The expectation was that the announcement of the spending cut package would be defined after the second round of municipal elections. Lula has held a series of meetings with ministers to discuss the measures in recent weeks.
