Sugar yes, but only in the right amount

It is a known fact that our body actually needs sugars. They are indispensable for the proper functioning of the brain, heart, muscles and other organs. But only to an adequate extent, because an excess of sugars does considerable mischief in the body.

Quick sugars

Unhealthy sweets with white sugar are quickly converted into fat stores. They are also characterized by the absence of fiber, which causes rapid digestion and, at the same time, higher and faster insulin secretion. This condition subsequently causes lower blood sugar levels and an uncontrollable sweet tooth. Long-term unbalanced, irregular and low-quality diet is unsustainable for the body and often causes not only the emergence of unwanted fungi, viruses and parasites, but also stress, sleepiness, bad mood and depression.

Slow sugars

On the contrary, the so-called slow sugars are a long-term and healthy source of energy for our organism. A slow and steady rise in blood sugar is crucial for the human body. Not only will it guarantee you enough energy that won’t tire you out, but you won’t be plagued with frequent hunger pangs. Slow sugars can be found, for example, in whole grain breads, fruits, vegetables and legumes. Nutritionists recommend consuming around 25g of sugar per day. So what can you do to resist the temptation of sweets with ease?

Take care of a healthy breakfast

Start each day with a healthy and balanced breakfast. This regular eating habit will protect you from unwanted cravings. It should contain not only enough carbohydrates, but also fiber and protein. For example, whole grain cereals with low-fat milk, hard-boiled eggs, a piece of fruit or a fruit smoothie cocktail with healthy seeds are great choices.

Regular menu

Learn to only eat in bursts when you are already hungry. Rather, think about regular food intake at a given time of day, every three to four hours. This way, you will avoid rapid fluctuations in blood sugar and overall body energy. Instead of unhealthy sweets, consume foods with a low glycemic index.

Drinking regime and herbal teas

You can also eliminate excessive sweet cravings with a regular drinking regime, which can also be supplemented with a regular dose of herbal teas. Not only will the body be well hydrated, but you will also supply it with much-needed antioxidants in this form. The most effective are teas with orange, peach, strawberry or cranberry flavors, but also rooibos or kombucha tea. Definitely avoid caffeinated drinks, which unfortunately increase your sweet tooth.
