He suggested that it is essential to promote a balance in the hours dedicated to work. At the moment, the 6×1 scale proposal (six days of work and one day of rest per week) is one of the most debated topics by experts, since the PEC (proposed constitutional amendment) on reducing working hours has reached the minimum number of signatures and will be registered.
During his speech, Lula highlighted the importance of listening to youth, who will be the generation most affected by decisions made at the moment and in the future. “The G20 needs to discuss a series of measures to reduce the cost of living and promote more balanced working hours. We need to listen to the youth, who will face the consequences of the tasks we leave unfinished”, expressed the president.
On the other hand, he criticized the disconnect between the population’s demands and market decisions, pointing out that the neoliberal model has contributed to the increase in both economic and political inequality in the world. The G20 Social, which took place before the G20 Heads of State Summit, scheduled for the 18th and 19th, was organized by Brazil in partnership with social movements.
The speech of goes against one of the central points of the debate on the extinction of the one presented by congresswoman Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP).
