According to a text released by the National Executive of the Workers’ Party, the act is part of a “spiral of violence” incited by right-wing politicians
The National Executive of the (Workers’ Party) released a note this Friday (15.Nov.2024) in which it repudiates the case against the (Supreme Federal Court) held on Wednesday (13.Nov). According to the president’s party, the act “dramatically confirms the risks that the extreme right, its violent methods and its hate speech and lies pose”.
For the legend, the attack “This is not an isolated fact, as the political and ideological leaders of the extremists intend to falsify”. It also states that the episode is part of a “spiral of violence” incited by right-wing politicians. Here is the note (PDF – 103 kB).
The text states that the methods of “intimidation” e “brute force” of this right were already clear since the first electoral campaign of the former president (PL). Furthermore, it compares the recent attack to hard-line movements at the end of the military dictatorship (1964-1985), when soldiers set fire to newsstands and threw bombs at institutions, such as the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association).
“That’s how they act; yesterday, today, whenever they are not contained. Defeated at the polls, they are bringing terrorism back to politics and life in Brazil”says the note.
The PT also defends the punishment “pedagogical” of the organizers, principals and financiers of, “because fugitives from justice and those still unpunished remain active in Parliament, in the media and on social networks, challenging democratic institutions, corrupting the truth and threatening peace”.
“All the countries that allowed themselves to be carried away by the lies of the extreme right, all the democracies that were intimidated by their violence, succumbed to regimes of terror and iniquity, as happened in Brazil, in a time that Bolsonaro and his accomplices worship and want to bring back”says the note.
