When recalling the events in Valencia, Spain, Lula mentioned that “the climate issue is what we are seeing happening in our backyard”. In this sense, Lula also made a connection between and the fight against hunger, stating that “to protect the forest, these people need to eat. And, for people to eat, rich countries need to finance it.”
On the other hand, during his closing speech, the president did not fail to defend the importance of international cooperation in the climate challenge. “We have to involve the world, because we can change if we want to,” he said.
