In a real boxing fight, Mike Tyson, 58, lost to Jake Paul, 27, on points, after eight rounds, early this Saturday morning, in the ring at AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, United States United, in front of 80 thousand people. The judges scored: 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

The fight was broadcast on Netflix to around 280 million subscribers, providing an audience of approximately 1 billion viewers. Each fighter received a purse of US$80 million (R$463 million).

The first round Tyson tries to corner Paul, but the young opponent has better footwork and even has the confidence to unleash two right hands.

In the second round, Tyson lands a left, while Paul avoids the fight at close range. Fans shout “Mike, Mike”. The third round Jake lands good shots and Tyson seems to feel the punishment. In the fourth round, the youtuber is in charge, Tyson seems to have tired.

In the fifth round, Paul intensifies the blows to the waist line and even connects an upper. Tyson tries to walk towards his rival, but he appears physically exhausted. In the sixth, Jake Paul ‘hits and leaves’, giving Tyson no chance to get closer. The veteran needed the knockout to win.

Paul also dominates the seventh round, with good crosses, Tyson seems to no longer have the strength to react. In the eighth and final round, Tyson hits Paul at close range, but the answer comes with a straight shot to the former champion’s head.

The duel was part of the fighters’ official cartels. Eight two-minute rounds were scheduled. The athletes did not wear head protectors and the gloves were 14 ounces (396 grams – the norm among heavyweights is ten ounces (283 grams).

Tyson now has 50 wins (45 knockouts) and seven losses. He was the youngest world heavyweight champion (20 years old), when in 1986 he won the World Boxing Council belt, defeating Jamaican Trevor Berbick. He remained champion until 1990, but surprisingly lost to James Buster Douglas.

He regained the title in 1996, beating Frank Bruno, after spending three years (1992 to 1995) in jail for being accused of rape. He lost to Evander Holyfield in the same year and never became champion again. He had a chance, in 2002, but lost to Lennox Lewis.

Jake Paul is an internet star who ventured into boxing. He beat expressionless fighters, but he knows how to promote his fights and has a loyal audience, which guarantees him a lot of money. He has 11 wins and one loss.
