Exercise simulated an emergency during the event; around 900 military personnel will participate in the security team
The Navy carried out a test exercise this Friday morning (Nov 15, 2024) with military personnel who will work on the security of the Navy. One of the objectives of the training was the simulation of an emergency episode during the days of the event, which will be held in Rio from November 18th to 19th.
The exercise took place at Praia da Glória, in the South Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Among the procedures carried out was the so-called “ship docking”, which is the approach of a vessel to a docking location, such as a pier or pier.
According to the Navy, around 900 military personnel will work to reinforce security for the event. Since Thursday (Nov 14), when the events of the , the corporation began Operation G20, which runs until November 21st. They will operate 24 hours a day, patrolling Guanabara Bay and the coast, especially in the vicinity of where the event activities are scheduled, such as the MAM (Museum of Modern Art).
This Friday (15), the (Federal Police), which coordinates the security of the event, also carried out inspections of the security protocols at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio. The general director, Andrei Rodrigues, and the director of Protection of People, Alexsander Castro de Oliveira.
During the G20 operational period, agents will provide security for approximately 84 world leaders and foreign ministers. The event will feature tactical police officers, including snipers (snipers), teams with tactical vehicles and anti-bomb sweeps with sniffer dogs.
