The national president of the Progressives Party (PP), senator Ciro Nogueira (PI), said he intends to have a “face-to-face conversation” with the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), about differences that arose during the municipal elections this year.

Even praising the governor, Nogueira expressed discomfort with some of Tarcísio’s positions in the interior of São Paulo during the electoral campaign.

“I already registered at the time my discomfort with some of his positions in the interior of São Paulo, he had a very positive situation in the capital, he was a big winner in the capital”, said Nogueira during an interview with CNN Brazilthis Thursday (15).

When asked about possible support for Tarcísio’s candidacy for Presidency of the Republic in 2026, Nogueira reiterated his support for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), as the right and allies work with the possibility of the former president regaining his political rights in time to compete in the next election.

“My candidate in 2026 for President of the Republic is Jair Messias Bolsonaro”, highlighted Nogueira, stating that he will fight to the end for the recovery of Bolsonaro’s political rights.

Tarcisio’s potential

Even though he was emphatic about his support for Bolsonaro, Nogueira recognized Tarcísio’s potential.

For the PP leader, the governor of São Paulo is “the strongest candidate” and “the candidate who represents the population in the polls with the greatest chance of beating President Lula (PT)”.

Finally, Nogueira praised Tarcísio’s work as governor, indicating that he should be a candidate for re-election. A situation that should only be changed in the event of a change in plans to reverse Bolsonaro’s ineligibility.
