The capital of the state of Acre, Rio Branco, is the one that has lost the most green area in the country since 2003, according to a survey carried out by MapBiomas, which was released on November 8th.
With a 10.5% drop in the city’s vegetation cover, going from 43.3% of the territory in the first year of analysis to 32.8% in 2023.
However, not all data is negative, since even with the reduction, Acre remains among the states with the highest vegetation coverage in the urban perimeter, along with Amazonas, Distrito Federal, Maranhão and Pará.
Rio Branco, in turn, leads the list for the largest urban vegetation cover among the capitals.
