Predominant inverse weather with low clouds, fog at lower elevations and warmth and sun at high mountain elevations is coming to an end. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) draws attention to this on the social network. At the same time, it predicts colder weather in the course of the next week, gradually with snow also in lower altitudes.
“The situation will start to change already on Sunday (November 17), when a large cold front will pass through a large part of Europe further east, behind which colder air will also penetrate to us from the west to the northwest,” meteorologists explained. “During its passage, the precipitation will be mostly snowy from the middle positions, at night and in the morning, especially in the north, it may also snow lower, but mostly it will not be abundant,” added.
They pointed out that after the temporary warming that is expected on Tuesday (November 19), a cold front will take care of further cooling. “From the west, it will pass relatively quickly through our area further to the east, and behind it, cold sea air, of Arctic origin, will penetrate to us,” added SHMÚ.
So far, according to meteorologists, it is not possible to specify the regional occurrence of precipitation, its abundance, as well as its state. “When planning the program for next week, however, it certainly doesn’t hurt to consider a possible winter snow scenario,” added.
