First lady Rosângela da Silva, known as Janja, commented on the death of Francisco Wanderley Luiz, author of the attack that occurred in Praça dos Três Poderes, last Wednesday (13). During a side event at the G20 Social, she said that the “beast ended up killing himself with fireworks”.
The statement came amid a debate on ways to contain misinformation on social media, which was attended by YouTuber Felipe Neto. The first lady was not part of the panel, but asked to speak while following the discussion. She defended the regulation of social networks and praised the performance of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes.
“Minister Alexandre de Moraes has been a great partner in this issue of fake news, no matter how difficult it is, he is facing it, due to what happened in Brasília. Unbelievably, it happened in Brasília this week, the beast there ended up killing himself with fireworks. It’s incredible”, said Janja, causing laughter from part of the audience.
“Anyway, we laugh, but it’s serious people, it’s serious. Look what social media does in people’s minds, right?”, he added. The first lady concluded by saying that Moraes did not go to the event “for security reasons”.
On Wednesday night (13), locksmith Francisco Wanderley Luiz, known as Tiu França, exploded artifacts in front of the headquarters building of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The 59-year-old man died after detonating another device near his own head.
An explosion was also recorded in the car he used, which was parked near Annex 4 of the Chamber of Deputies. According to Wanderley’s ex-wife, he had been planning the attack for a long time with the aim of killing Moraes and “whoever was nearby” at the time.
The Federal Police investigate the case as a possible terrorist act and an attack on the Democratic Rule of Law.
G20 Social was marked by “controversial” statements by Janja
The first lady has actively participated in the debates held at the G20 Social and attracted attention for statements outside the event’s theme. Janja, who is the creator of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty festival, was irritated by a woman who called the meeting “Janjapalooza”, in reference to Lollapalooza, on Friday (15).
“No, daughter, it’s the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. Let’s see if you can understand the message, okay?”, she said in a rude tone at the time.
Just before calling the perpetrator of the attack a “stupid”, the sociologist used a profanity expression, in English, to offend the owner of the social network X, Elon Musk. “They’re going to lose the next election,” the billionaire joked in response to the comment.
