The popular dance show Let’s Dance was closer to the audience this fall than ever before. For the first time, the biggest stars of the show performed in several cities in Slovakia as part of the Let’s Dance tour. The show also included its permanent jury, which inevitably includes Tatiana Drexler (61). For the former professional dancer, she described all her feelings about the show.
In total, over 25,000 spectators took part in the tour from October 2 to November 3. who during 19 events in 10 Slovak cities created a fantastic atmosphere full of joy and exclusively positive emotions in packed sports halls. The grand final took place in Bratislava. “I’m starting to feel a little sad because we got used to each other, we liked each other, we were happy here, and actually it’s so sad. It’s like when you leave some kind of children’s camp.” reviewed the conclusion of the Drexler tour.
These shows could not even be compared to the television form. “It’s much more relaxed, because on that TV, after all, there are precise orders for the time to what can be said and actually it is such a real competition, where my role actually is, is really to devote myself to the dance, the heels, the toes, the quality of the dance, and I’m such a nice, funny person to you when I’m not performing this function. So when I’m allowed to be more relaxed like that, I enjoy it a lot more. And most importantly, I also have the opportunity to show my nice side not only to the contestants, but also to the audience,” explained Tatiana, who always appeared stern on television.
After 26 years, she even stood on the dance floor when she accepted Janko Koleník’s offer and they rehearsed a dance number together. “But I’ll tell you the truth that I was 35 years old when I ended my active professional dance career and I told my friends, “Girls, if I ever want to dance in public again, feel free to break my leg,” because I find it embarrassing when old women dance and actually why do they already have them? After all, they can’t even do it anymore, because after all, a person in their sixties can’t even dance. And who is supposed to watch it? It looks terrible, and they said, “Okay, Tánička,” and now I’m glad they don’t know about it“, she revealed.
However, she changed her mind. “Of course, I’m fully aware that I don’t dance like I did thirty years ago, but that’s not really the point, because it’sto give each other a positive emotion, to move and actually… You know, I grew up in that socialism and we couldn’t do much there. I also have the feeling that it’s good to free ourselves from it and actually do everything we like to do and not fuss at all or think: “Jesus, what will those people think,” but let’s all do what we enjoy and the world will be more beautiful and happier,” Drexler said the important words.
Her husband Hartmunt, who comes from Germany, where they live together, came to support her at the show. “Yes, he came. I think he was in Poprad and he really liked it. He often went with me to those TV broadcasts, he always liked that too, but here he completely failed he said that Táňa is like… I don’t have the feeling that he has seen little in terms of art, culture and so on, because he still goes out with me, but he was absolutely thrilled and said, “It’s so emotional, it’s so beautiful, it’s so amazing,” and he was so excited to experience it“, she added at the end.
