The PSP and GNR closed two restaurant establishments and detained 47 people, as part of a joint operation this weekend in the municipalities of Olhão, Faro, Setúbal, Barreiro, Cascais, Oeiras and Sintra.

In a statement released this Sunday, the GNR says that, within the scope of the “Portugal Semper Seguro” campaign, road inspection actions were carried out at nightlife venues and establishments and in the field of private security activity in the seven municipalities.

The operation resulted in 47 arrests, 17 of which were for driving under the influence of alcohol, nine for lack of legal license to drive, seven for drug trafficking and one for possession of a prohibited weapon.

During the two days, five establishments were also inspected, registering 16 infraction notices, and the total suspension of the activity of two restaurant establishments.

As a result of the actions, 406 individual doses of narcotics were seized – 171 of hashish, 128 of cannabis and 20 of cocaine – and 15 vehicles, 30 pyrotechnic items, a firearm, two bladed weapons and a defense aerosol.
