Motorcycle trips, tours or motorcycling – as they are called, is one of the passions shared by hundreds of Brazilians. In Acre, the attorney general of Acre, Janete Melo, is part of the group that takes traveling on two wheels as a hobby.
To ContilNet, the prosecutor said that for more than 30 years, since the beginning of her relationship with her husband Charles, the couple has been taking motorcycle trips. “My husband has had this hobby his entire life. He’s had a motorbike since he was young and we used to go for a ride on Sundays. We always go, just the two of us, on the weekends, on trips to Quinari and Capixaba to have coffee”, he explained.
Janete also said that last year, her husband invited two other work colleagues to go on trips with the couple. “Now there are two more couples. One day we were having coffee and we thought about creating a group of just the three couples, so we created ‘Motorcycles, engineers and partners’ and we usually go for a ride on the weekends. Sometimes, on Sunday morning, we go a little further, just take a walk. Our longest trip of the three couples was to Porto Velho”, he said.
The prosecutor also said that the couple started to equip themselves to go on trips more safely. “Before we went and there wasn’t that motorcycle group thing, with more appropriate clothes and everything. Now we have equipped ourselves with the appropriate jackets, with all the necessary safety equipment”, he highlighted.
34 years on two wheels
The prosecutor recalled that since the beginning of her relationship with her husband, Charles, the couple’s means of transport was a motorcycle. “Usually our trips were always on motorcycles. It was his means of transport and I always got on his back and went, because I gave in and I’m not afraid,” he said.
“My kids think it’s great”
Janete and Charles, who have been together for more than 30 years, have two children: Matheus and Nathalia, aged 24 and 19, respectively. According to the prosecutor, the children do not like riding motorcycles. “They both don’t like walking, but they support walks. They think it’s great. They call them ‘adventurous parents’. We are at a stage where we have more of these moments, both of us, we don’t have as much worry. And they find it inspiring and enjoy seeing us go on these trips together, they are very supportive”, he said.
From the office to the asphalt
Janete Melo, who has been in charge of the Attorney General’s Office of Acre (PGE-AC) since 2023 and will continue until 2026, told ContilNet that, even though she is very focused on work, when she goes for walks, she lets go of some thoughts related to the service and enjoy the moment.
“I am very focused on work. I arrive very early, I work, I keep my commitments, I analyze the process that needs to be analyzed, I hold meetings, but I have a characteristic that has always been like this and now, of course, I have more commitments, perhaps more responsibilities for the position at hand. in front of the PGE, but when I leave the Prosecutor’s Office, I disconnect completely from there, although I am always available, if needed, but I tend to live moments like that”, he concluded.
