It always works well at St. Andrew's Day party. Not only men are delighted

If you are planning to organize a St. Andrew’s Day party, you are probably wondering what to prepare for food. We come to help. These ideas will make you quickly and easily prepare food for guests.

Simple snacks that are tasty and easy to serve are best for parties. First of all, it is worth focusing on diversity. Our guests may have different preferences and tastes, which means that they will not always like every dish.

One of the easiest dishes to prepare is corks. Meats, cheeses and vegetables will work well with them. Just cut them into cubes and stick them on toothpicks. Sandwiches with your favorite spreads and vegetables will be equally easy to prepare. Many people also decide to prepare them.

Among cold dishes, they are particularly good herring. You can prepare them a few days before the event. They are easy to make and there is no risk of them spoiling quickly. Regardless of the recipe we choose, for sure lovers of Polish cuisine will love it. Just make sure that the marinade is aromatic, expressive and slightly sour, and the fish will surely taste perfect. An additional advantage is that herrings are easy to serve in small portions – We can serve them on corks, in a small bowl or as part of a larger set of snacks.

Hungarian herring is one of the original ways to prepare herring. It surprises with the use of mushrooms, fresh peppers and spicy spices. Thanks to it, we will surprise our guests and there will definitely be no boredom on the table.

Ingredients:

  • 300-400 g herring flakes,
  • large onion,
  • red pepper,
  • 150 g mushrooms,
  • a teaspoon of sugar,
  • 3 teaspoons of sweet pepper,
  • a glass of water,
  • 5 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar,
  • a spoon of honey,
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato paste,
  • a pinch of cayenne pepper and black pepper,
  • additionally: oil for frying.

How to do it:

The day before, dip the herring fillets in water. It is worth soaking them for at least several hours, preferably overnight. If we use salted flakes à la matias, 1-2 hours in cold water is enough. In this case, it is worth remembering to change the water at least twice. This way we will get rid of excess salt from the fish.

Cut the onion into thin strips, remove the seeds from the pepper and cut it into thin strips. Clean the mushrooms and cut them into slices. Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Add the onion. After a few minutes, season it – add half a teaspoon of salt, ground sweet pepper and sugar. After a few minutes, add fresh peppers and mushrooms. Fry everything for another few minutes. When the ingredients are nicely browned, add a glass of water, vinegar, honey, tomato paste and a pinch of cayenne pepper and black pepper. Mix everything together and simmer for a few minutes.

In a large jar, place a few tablespoons of the vegetable mixture at the bottom and place a layer of herrings cut into strips on top. Then add the vegetables again, then the herrings, until we run out of ingredients. The last layer should be vegetables. Close it tightly and put it in the fridge. You can eat herring the next day. However, they will taste best after 2-3 days in the refrigerator.
