The spotlight is on this Sunday (17th), with the long-awaited premiere of “Landman”, a series that already has two episodes to win over audiences who love intense stories full of twists and turns. Directed by Taylor Sheridan (“Yellowstone”) and Christian Wallace, the drama is inspired by the Boomtown podcast and explores the disputes and tensions surrounding oil drilling in West Texas. With an approach that mixes economics, geopolitics and family relationships, the production promises to hook viewers from the first minute.

At the center of the plot is Tommy Norris, played by award-winning Billy Bob Thornton. A manager for an oil giant, he navigates the complex process of negotiating and managing Texas land slated for extraction. The series echoes the success of “Yellowstone”, but this time swaps the cattle fields for oil rigs. While John Dutton (Kevin Costner) fought to protect his legacy in “Yellowstone,” Tommy Norris follows a ruthless path, facing powerful adversaries and familiar challenges that link directly to the sister series.

Among the family dynamics, stand out Ainsley (Michelle Randolph), the caring daughter about to enter college, and Cooper (Jacob Lofland), sent by her father to learn the day-to-day life of oil extraction — a reflection of the intricate relationship between generations. Fans of cinematic landscapes won’t be disappointed either. “Landman” transforms the rugged terrain of Texas into a visual spectacle, with scenes that capture sunrises and sunsets set to country music, providing the same epic feel that Sheridan masters so well.

But the drama goes beyond the landscapes. From the beginning, the series delves into dangerous tensions, such as the threat of drug traffickers interested in oil lands and an accident involving a company aircraft led by Monty Miller (Jon Hamm). As if that weren’t enough, a catastrophic explosion promises to escalate the conflicts even further.

With a strong cast that includes Demi Moore, Kayla Wallace and Paulina Chávez, as well as Billy Bob Thornton, Landman arrives at Paramount+ to establish a new level in the genre of dramas about power and family disputes. Get ready for a story that promises to be as unforgettable as the setting in which it is set. The first two episodes are now available on Paramount+.
