Without mentioning First Lady Rosângela da Silva’s insult, Janja, against North American billionaire Elon Musk, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated on Saturday night, the 16th, that there is no need to offend anyone. The statement was made by Lula while he defended the fight against hunger at a festival organized by Janja at the G-20, in Rio de Janeiro.
“I wanted to tell you that this is a campaign in which we don’t have to offend anyone, we don’t have to insult anyone. We just need to outrage society”, said Lula when commenting on a conversation he had with Pope Francis about the campaign against hunger.
Lula was on the festival stage alongside Janja, the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, and singer Gilberto Gil. He promised that by 2026 no Brazilian will go hungry and said he hopes the G-20’s focus on social issues will be a lesson for the future.

During a panel debate this Saturday at the G-20, Janja cursed the businessman who owns the social network X. “I’m not afraid of you. Including, fuck you, Elon Musk”, said the first lady.
Musk reacted to the insult, shared a post by Bolsonaro deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) on X and wrote “LOL”, an acronym for the expression “Laughing Out Loud”, which means in Portuguese “laughing out loud” or “laughing”.
“They are going to lose the next election,” said the billionaire, also owner of Tesla and Space X, when commenting on another publication that reproduced the video with Janja’s speech.

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) joined the controversy. “We already have another diplomatic problem,” he wrote, in reference to the fact that Musk was nominated for a position in the American government by the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump.
Musk recently had a clash with Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). OX was suspended in Brazil for around 40 days after the businessman refused to comply with Court decisions on removing content from the social network.

At another point in his speech at the festival on Saturday night, Lula said that it is necessary to transform hunger into a political issue so that the problem can be resolved.
“When we decided to raise the issue of hunger to be discussed at the G-20, it was because we wanted to transform hunger into a political issue. While hunger is treated as if it were a social issue, they are just statistical numbers that people use at election time and then forget,” said the president.
Lula also criticized the Bolsonaro government’s performance in the area of Culture. “It’s so shameless that even the Ministry of Culture had ended it, because they don’t like art, they don’t like artists because they think artists are all communist, they’re all revolutionary. And it’s good that it’s revolutionary so that we can change life in this country”, he stated.
