The leader of the opposition in , (-RN), criticized, this Thursday (14), the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) and reaffirmed articulation for the granting of amnesty to those involved in the coup acts of January 8, 2023.

Moraes stated this Thursday morning (14), after a man blew himself up in front of the court, that the attack began with the so-called “” in the Bolsonaro administration.

“I’m sad to see the minister, in the morning, declare that this regrettable case is the result of a hate cabinet,” said Marinho, who is general secretary of former president Jair Bolsonaro’s party. “The minister makes a decision before looking into the case. I ask where his impartiality is,” he stated.

Recalling that the investigation was launched almost six years ago, Marinho defended that the processes be concluded so that the political debate returns to Congress in an effort for national pacification.

According to him, a significant portion of the population feels persecuted by the courts. “More than ever, it is time to pacify the country, to relax the process. And the political solution is within the , with amnesty,” he said.

Marinho said it was regrettable that Moraes made conclusions about the case that would be under his responsibility. The senator said that Adélio Bispo, who stabbed Bolsonaro in the 2018 election, was treated as a lone wolf, but Francisco Wanderley Luiz, a suicide bomber, was classified as a Bolsonaro supporter, “not even given the benefit of the doubt.”

Francisco Wanderley Luiz was a member of the PL, even so, Bolsonaro supporters have since insisted on his political connection

Marinho, on the other hand, denied this relationship in relation to the attack in front of the STF. “What happened yesterday was regrettable. Everyone is in solidarity with anyone who could have been affected by this episode, whose great victim was the perpetrator himself,” he said.

This Thursday morning, Moraes stated that he does not believe in the pacification of the country without punishing criminals, opposing the mobilization of Bolsonaro supporters for amnesty for coup plotters who participated in the .

“We cannot ignore what happened yesterday. What happened yesterday is not a fact isolated from the context. (…) but the context began way back when the ‘hate office’ began to distill hate speech against the institutions , against the STF, mainly against the autonomy of the Judiciary”, said Moraes.

According to the minister, this was growing under the false cover of criminal uses of freedom of expression. “Offending, threatening, coercing, nowhere in the world is this freedom of expression. This is a crime. And this grew and resulted in January 8th,” he said.

The “hate office” cited by Moraes is the name given to the group of assistants close to Bolsonaro who, according to investigations by the Federal Police, had the objective of disseminating false news and attacks on opponents during the last government.

In his demonstration this Thursday morning, Moraes spoke out against the amnesty on January 8, which is the subject of a project being processed in the Chamber of Deputies, with the support of Bolsonaro.

“This necessary pacification of the country is only possible with the accountability of all criminals. There is no possibility of pacification with amnesty for criminals. (…) Impunity will generate more aggressiveness, as it did yesterday, because people think they can come a, enter the STF to blow up the STF”, said Moraes.

In a session of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) this Thursday, minister Cármen Lúcia said that “Brazil went to sleep worried about the events”.

In a statement at the beginning of the electoral court session, the minister stated that the Judiciary must continue performing its functions so that “Brazilians continue to sleep without worry” about “some virus that makes people or institutions sick” and compromises and contaminates democratic health .

The investigation of the case is at the STF. Internally, ministers assess that the rapporteurship will be up to Moraes, as he is in charge of the episodes relating to the coup attacks in .

The president of the court, admitted, if there is a connection with attacks on January 8, 2023.

“I will receive the survey. If there is a connection with an ongoing investigation, it will be distributed as a precaution,” he said when asked about the possibility of the investigation being attached.
