“From the moment I saw her, I said: ‘She either wins, or she is in the top three.’” This is how he described Osmel Sousa, known as the Tsar of Beauty, his meeting with Miss Universe 2023, the Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios. The Cuban-Venezuelan designer and businessman shared some of his predictions, without naming names, in an interview for Telemundo.
He was severe with his recommendations for the 126 candidates seeking to be Palacios’ successors. “This is achieved, on election night, by being concentrated in what they are going to do. “The one who loses focus… nothing happens anymore,” he said.
He also had advice for the future Miss Universe: serious work awaits her. “The girl who is selected has to be a great worker, because this is not easy, the girl has to be traveling, she comes back and goes somewhere else to do commercials and activities with sponsors,” he said. “Sheynnis never got tired, she was always with a smile and a kind gesture towards the people who were watching her.”
He highlighted this year’s event as one of the best he has seen. “The girls are very happy. And this year, there are beautiful women,” he declared. “And I say this as a contest divo. This group is wonderful. I’ve been watching them try on clothes and swimsuits for a week… There are some girls with fabulous bodies, some big women. Some fabulous brunettes, some refined Asians, and if you ask me who is going to win… Now I am in a confusion that I owe to Raúl Rocha, who has included 130 participants, “Never before have there been so many participants in a contest as in this one.”
In his opinion, the representative who comes out with “an incredible bearing, with fabulous strength, moving like a queen, who looks fine, who looks prepared” will win.
On the topic of inclusivity, she admitted that although the swimsuit appearance is still interesting to the public, it is no longer the focal point of the competition.. “But that she looks beautiful, spontaneous, happy and with personality. That is very important. Safety is important.”
