Why use homemade scented wipes?
Scented dryer sheets will add a nice scent to your laundry, but it will also be softer and more pleasant to the touch, thanks to the added scented oils. Wipes will help eliminate static electricity that often builds up when drying laundry.
Therefore, it will not attract unwanted dust and hair. It will also make subsequent ironing much easier for you, as the laundry will be less wrinkled after taking it out of the dryer. As mentioned earlier, homemade wipes are environmentally friendly as they contain no chemicals and are reusable.
How to make scented napkins
You will need 4 squares of cotton fabric measuring approx. 10 x 10 cm, wine vinegar, essential oil and a sealable jar. First, cut out four squares in the indicated dimensions from the remnants of fabric, an old tea towel or tablecloth.
If you have miter saws, you don’t need to clean up the edges any further. If not, sand the edges so they don’t fray later. Then place the finished towels in the chosen container and cover them with vinegar. Then add 10 drops of the essential oil of your choice and let the fabric soak in, ideally by the next day.
How to use napkins
Then all you have to do is always put one or two napkins in the dryer with the laundry. After use, put them back into the scented liquid in the jar. Not only will the dried laundry smell wonderful, but thanks to the vinegar, you will disinfect the product at the same time.
Tips for choosing fragrances
Of course, it always depends on what scents you prefer. For example, the soothing and relaxing scent of lavender is suitable for bed linen and towels. Citruses will add a refreshing, clean and invigorating scent and are also known for their ability to neutralize odors.
Herbal scents are also a great choice, for example, the combination of rosemary and eucalyptus creates an impression of absolute purity and has both an invigorating and relaxing effect. You can also try the scent of geranium together with the essence of Ylang Ylang, which together create a delicate floral scent that is ideal not only for clothes but also for bed linen. This combination brings a subtle feeling of luxury and perfect freshness.
A final tip
If you used a translucent glass jar, you can also add plants to the towels. For example, white or red heather, but also lavender looks beautiful. This will make the laundry room special with an interesting decorative element.
