A 68-year-old pedestrian did not survive the collision with a car on the I/65 road on Jilemnického Street in Martin on Saturday evening. Other circumstances and the exact causes of the accident are being investigated by the police. Žilina regional police spokeswoman Daniela Kocková informed TASR about this.

“The collision between a car driven by a 40-year-old driver and a pedestrian who was crossing a properly marked pedestrian crossing occurred for as yet unknown reasons. The man suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” she stated. According to the spokeswoman, the police called an expert from the Department of Transport to the scene. The driver submitted to a breath test on the spot with a negative result.

In this context, the police called on all road users to behave considerately on the roads, fully devote themselves to driving, monitor the traffic situation, do not overestimate their abilities and obey traffic regulations. According to her, every road user can contribute to greater road safety with their responsible attitude.
