The president-elect of the United States, announced this Saturday (16) the appointment of Chris Wright as Secretary of Energy. Founder of Liberty Energy and known for his skeptical stance towards , Wright’s main mission will be to reduce bureaucracy to boost investments in fossil fuels. In a statement, Trump singled out Wright as a key player in what he called a “new golden age of American prosperity and global peace.” He praised the businessman as one of those responsible for the “Shale Revolution”, which strengthened the energy independence of the United States and impacted the market and global geopolitics.

Wright is a supporter of fracking, a technique for extracting gas from shale fields, and openly criticizes the climate crisis narrative. In a post on LinkedIn, he stated that “there is no climate crisis” and questioned the concept of energy transition. Wright also argued that there is no such thing as “clean or dirty” energy, as all sources have positive and negative impacts. The choice reflects the future government’s intention to prioritize the fossil fuel sector, reinforcing the influence of this industry on United States energy policy.
