In a speech in Rio, PT member said that one should not swear when it comes to combating poverty and hunger
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said this Saturday (17.Nov.2024) that we should not insult anyone when talking about the debate on combating poverty and hunger. Hours earlier, however, the first lady cursed businessman Elon Musk in a speech also at an event related to the G20 in Rio.
“I wanted to tell you that this is a campaign in which we don’t have to offend anyone, we don’t have to insult anyone. We just need to outrage society”said the PT member in a speech at the Global Festival Against Hunger and Poverty, in Praça Mauá, in Rio.
Lula spoke alongside Janja on stage. The first lady said earlier that she is not afraid of the owner of (former Twitter), South African billionaire Elon Musk, and sent him “fuck off”in English. The speech took place during Cria G20, a hub of content producers that is part of the Summit’s parallel programming.
“I’m not afraid of you. Including, fuck you, Elon Musk”he declared. Afterwards, Janja is applauded and screams can be heard in the audience. She was talking about regulating social media and combating misinformation.
The first lady’s speech was improvised. She was in the audience while panelists, including the influencer, discussed the topic. According to her, this was one of the most important panels at the event. Janja also defended the regulation of social networks.
“If we don’t have this discussion globally, we won’t be able to win. There is no point in having laws in Brazil – and that is difficult to happen, we know the obstacles – if we do not discuss this issue globally. […] There’s no point in doing this and the US arrives and ‘we’re not going to do it’”he stated.
The billionaire recently joined the government of the elected president of the United States, (Republican). He will head the new “Department of Government Efficiency”, known by the acronym “DOG”. Musk will work alongside the businessman. The department must operate until July 4, 2026, according to the president-elect.
According to Trump, they “will open the way” so that your government “dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulation, cut unnecessary spending and restructure federal agencies”.
In her speech, the first lady also praised the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes, whom Janja called “great partner on the issue of fake news”.
