Dish sponges have found their way into our homes for good. They are among the most commonly used household accessories. Many people ask themselves the question of how to dispose of them properly, i.e. in which bin they should belong. It’s time to dispel these doubts once and for all.

Waste sorting is very important. Used items should go in the appropriate containers so that they do not pose a risk to the environment. This time we will focus on sponges, especially those that we use for washing dishes. Where should we throw them? The answer may shock many people.

Use and disposal of dish sponges

Is it possible to extend the life of a dish sponge? It turns out it is. After every dishwashing, you should squeeze the water out of it and regularly wash it in a few drops of dishwashing liquid.

Heavily soiled dishes should be cleaned with the dark side of this accessory. On the other hand, we recommend using a different cloth for burnt pots.

And where should you throw away the used dish sponge? Choose a container for mixed waste, ie a black or dark gray container.

Where do we throw the rest of the sponges?

As we use the sponges, they gradually shrink, and the small piece we used belongs in the black container. The same applies to the sponges that we use to renovate, for example when we paint or intensively polish.

It is a little different with the disposal of upholstery foam, which is used for the production of fillings for armchair seats. We will not reuse the remains of these accessories or entire mattresses. Therefore, the cut fillings must end up in the bin with mixed wastewhile large parts are taken to the waste collection point. In addition, those who replace the upholstery professionally should sign a contract with a suitable company.
