This Tuesday, between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm, the downtown area of Tavira will be the scene of a simulation involving a local traffic vessel, where the occurrence of a fire on board is simulated.
“During this event, it is natural that some traffic restrictions will occur, as would happen in a real context”, he explains in a statement.
The drill involves the presence of three fire brigades from the Eastern Algarve, namely Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António and Alcoutim.
Several entities/services collaborate in carrying out this action, namely, Tavira Municipal Civil Protection Service, Municipal Fire Department, Maritime Authority (Maritime Police teams, Lifeguard and Pollution Combat Station of the Port Authority of Tavira), Public Security Police, Group 100 Scouts of Tavira, Parish Council of Tavira, Students of the Civil Protection Course at AEJAC of Tavira, Silnido – Transportes Fluviais, Lda., Communication and Administrative Modernization Division of CMT and Department of Sustainability and Management CMT Operational.
A drill is a prevention and safety event that allows “testing the effectiveness of the internal emergency plan, as well as training participants, promoting the correct adoption of behaviors in a true emergency situation”.
As a legal requirement, all organizations must have standards, principles and procedures for action to follow in an emergency.
Taking advantage of the fictitious scenario prepared for this operational training, with multiple victims, the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Tavira intends to “strengthen articulation and coordination with other Civil Protection Agents, promoting their interaction in the event of an accident”.
