G20: see the agenda for the first day of the Leaders Summit

The G20 Summit – the most important agenda of the bloc that brings together the largest economies in the world – begins this Monday (18), in Rio de Janeiro.

The event is the culmination of a series of events held since December last year, when Brazil assumed the rotating presidency of the group.

The Summit continues until this Tuesday, with more than 270 agendas organized by social movements, engagement groups, international organizations, councils, universities, governments, the private sector, among others, from Brazil and abroad.

As president, , such as taxation of large fortunes, digitalization of governments and expansion of the supply of credit in international organizations.

The opening ceremony of the summit will be marked by the Brazilian initiative that mobilizes countries and international organizations in efforts to combat hunger and poverty by 2030.

During the afternoon, the discussion will be restricted to heads of state, with the reform of global governance in focus, a central theme in the Brazilian presidency of the G20.

The agenda attempts to promote the modernization of international institutions, such as the United Nations (UN), International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The aim of the discussions is to promote changes in international governance, making it more efficient and with space for emerging countries.

  • 8:30 am to 10 am: Arrival of leaders and reception by the President of the Republic and First Lady
  • 10am to 1pm: Launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty
  • 1pm to 2pm: Working Lunch
  • 2:30 pm to 6 pm: Session 2 – Global Governance Reform
  • 6pm to 8pm: Official Reception of President Lula and First Lady for the Leaders
