Diana Morant: “The system did not fail, the Mazón Government failed because it is based on science denialism”
The Minister of Science and leader of the Valencian socialists, Diana Morant, has stated that the president of the Valencian Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, cannot continue in his position after his management of the dana and has insisted on his demand that the PP replaced by a technical Government for reconstruction. “Mazón says that the system failed, he is the one who failed. The Generalitat or the organizations that warn did not fail, the governments that do not make adequate decisions are failures because they are based on science denialism,” he said, referring to the Mazón Government, which was the result of a coalition with Vox, although this summer The ultras left the Executive.
Asked about the accusation of the PP and the Valencian president to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) or the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ), dependent on the central Government, Morant was clear: “I see it as an attack on science, as “A display of denialism from those who are not aware of climate change and the virulent emergencies it is causing, which is why they handed over the Emergencies portfolio to Vox, who are denialists.” “In the first emergency they have had, the management has been disastrous and catastrophic,” he concluded.
He has also insisted on his proposal that the PP remove Mazón — “no one believes he can continue, he does not assume any responsibility” —, appoint a technical Government for the recovery, which would start with the support of the PSPV, and then call elections. Asked if she will support Mazón’s budgets, as they had offered before the dana, so that they would not depend on Vox, she said that she insists on her proposal and that if Mazón finally follows, the PSPV’s position will be seen. He has also avoided clarifying whether a motion of censure is being proposed, although he has implied that he does not see it as appropriate at this time.
