RIO DE JANEIRO – The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, was one of the last leaders to arrive at the meeting of leaders of the G20 Summit, which brings together authorities from the largest global economies. The Argentine disembarked from the delegation after the arrival of United States President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The delay in Milei’s arrival raised doubts about his participation in the G20 Summit. To date, Argentina has not signed the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, the first act to be formalized at this year’s meeting of authorities.

Milei’s delay created suspense, leading to speculation about the possibility of the Argentines being left out of the meeting. Recently, the Argentine delegation left COP 29, in Azerbaijan, at the request of Milei, who is skeptical about climate change.
Milei greeted President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva with a quick handshake and posed next to Lula and the first lady, Rosângela Silva, for an institutional photo, without much physical contact — unlike what happened with other leaders who arrived .
