Inspection by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in Vale do Paraíba identified irregularities in nurseries and organic cooperatives
An inspection operation carried out by Mapa () in Vale do Paraíba, in São Paulo, resulted in the seizure of 14,000 fruit seedlings in the region.
In addition, inspectors intercepted 8,719 liters of juice in an organic producers’ cooperative. The products would be sold to city halls in the region, with the aim of using them in school meals.
According to Mapa, the establishments did not have the appropriate registrations with the agency.
However, the seizures are precautionary, so the products can be released if regularized.
JOINT ACTION BY THE MINISTRY
The operation, carried out from November 4th to 7th, involved teams from different areas of the ministry, including the seedling and seed inspection sectors, organic products and the Guaratinguetá regional unit.
The team traveled 636 kilometers to inspect establishments in several cities, such as Campos do Jordão, São José dos Campos, Jacareí and Pindamonhangaba.

“The action successfully inaugurates the joint inspection of areas in the Vale do Paraíba region and the teams are already planning to repeat the joint work in the region in 2025. Samples of plant products were collected for laboratory measurement of organic quality”said Mapa.
