According to the process at the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJBA), Igor was accused of, in 2010, executing Mayara, who was 22 years old at the time.

After an argument between the two, on November 2 of that year, Mayara had called a friend to watch the house while she took a shower. That was when Igor “jumped the wall at the back of the house and reached the victim in the bathroom”. According to the lawsuit, Mayara was shot twice and died at the scene.
Igor became a defendant in the case in 2012. He went through the Jury Court, but was acquitted. Mayara’s family then appealed to the court to have the jury nullified. Then, he underwent a new trial, which sentenced him to 10 years, 10 months and 18 days, in a closed prison regime.
Igor’s defense appealed and he, meanwhile, was awaiting freedom. But, in November of this year, the Court determined that the case had become final and issued an arrest warrant.
Temporary teacher
According to Mayara’s family, Igor moved to Brasília shortly after being acquitted by the Jury. In the federal capital, he had worked as a temporary employee at the Department of Education since at least 2022.
Since February 2024, he has been teaching at Escola Classe 02 in Guará, according to the GDF Transparency Portal.
When contacted, the Department of Education confirmed that “The professional mentioned belongs to the temporary contract staff of the Department of Education. In the case of a teacher who is in prison, the dismissal is immediate. With the conviction, the record will be entered into the system, making future calls as a substitute teacher impossible,” he said.
