Coach Fábio Carille is not in Santos’ plans for the 2025 season. The decision was made in a meeting held this Monday (11/18), after Peixe lifted the Brazilian champion’s cup.

Will Fábio Carille be fired?
According to the portal “Diário do Peixe”, there was a meeting at the beginning of this week to discuss Carille’s future. President Marcelo Teixeira and members of Santos’ top management were present in the conversation.
Carille was not present at the time, but conversations should take place between the coach and his staff to discuss some terms related to contract termination.
The justification is largely based on some criticism that Carille has received. At the Santos stadium, shouting from black and white fans disapproving the coach’s work has become increasingly common.

However, there is a complicated issue. In Carille’s contract, there is an automatic clause related to a renewal if the team managed to gain access to the Brazilian Series A, which happened.
With the renewed contract, Santos would be obliged to pay a fine of R$2.5 million to the coach, in addition to guaranteeing payment equivalent to six months’ salary for each member of its technical committee. In other words, the idea is to debate and reach a common agreement to deal with these financial issues.

In which phase of the Copa do Brasil will Santos enter?
With the victory of Série B, Santos will enter the third phase of the Copa do Brasil 2025. This is a bonus given by the CBF as a form of incentive.
Peixe already had a place in the first phase assured, due to the runner-up in Paulistão 2024, but will take a two-phase leap in the next Copa do Brasil.
It will be Santos’ return to the Copa do Brasil. This year, the club did not participate in the competition, after failing to secure a place in 2023.
