Are you preparing a St. Andrew’s Day menu? You will please most guests if you prepare pasta with Bolognese sauce. However, the Italian classic works best during a party at the table. If you are planning a fortune telling evening or dancing, this will be a more convenient solution St. Andrew’s Day finger food snack. Make the sauce thicker than usual and stuff the rolls with it. Anyone can grab one and munch on it, even standing up. The snack is easy to make, so I’m sure everyone can handle it. Leave some sauce just in case – when the rolls go quickly during the party, you can quickly make more.
Ingredients:
- 6 hamburger buns (or regular kaiser rolls),
- 600 g minced meat (e.g. pork shoulder),
- 300 ml tomato passata,
- 2 medium onions,
- 3-4 cloves of garlic,
- 12 slices of mozzarella (pizza style),
- a teaspoon of sweet pepper,
- 1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper,
- 2 teaspoons of oregano (+ for decoration),
- a teaspoon of basil,
- a teaspoon of thyme,
- salt, pepper (to taste),
- 4 tablespoons of soft butter,
- vegetable oil (for frying).
How to do it:
Press the garlic through the press. Add half to the butter. Also add a pinch of each herb. Mix.
Chop the onion finely. Fry in a small amount of oil. At the end of frying, add the second half of the garlic, and after a while – the meat. Fry the meat.
When it turns brown, add tomato passata, sweet pepper and the rest of the herbs. Fry until the sauce reduces. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Cut the rolls in half and scoop out some of the flesh. You can also knead it to create indentations in the roll halves. Spread the garlic butter on the inside of the rolls and put them in an oven preheated to 200°C for a few minutes.
Fill the baked rolls with the meat from the pan. Place a slice of cheese on each. Sprinkle with oregano. Place back in the oven. Bake until the cheese melts.
