Corinthians and Cruzeiro face each other this Wednesday (11/20), at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo. The match is valid for the 34th round of the Brazilian Championship and has an unusual time: the ball rolls in the morning, at 11 am (Brasília time).
The reason the game is at 11 am is a combination of factors. It was a request from Cruzeiro, to have more time before the South American final against Racing, on Saturday (23/11) – Conmebol requires the presence of the delegation in the city three days before the decision. And also because it is a national holiday (Black Awareness Day), which allows the strategy of placing games at this time on Sundays to be replicated.
In this year’s Brazilian Championship, the following games were played in the morning:
- Flamengo 0 x 2 Botafogo – fourth round
- Atlético-MG 1 x 1 Atlético-GO – 13th round
- Grêmio 2 x 0 Vitória – 18th round
- Red Bull Bragantino 0 x 1 Fluminense – 20th round
- Youth 3 x 2 Botafogo – 22nd round
- Grêmio 2 x 3 Atlético-MG – 25th round
- Cruzeiro 3 x 1 Atlético-GO – 25th round
- Youth 1 x 1 Red Bull Bragantino – 28th round

Black Awareness Day: why is it a holiday?
Black Awareness Day is a commemorative date that celebrates the contributions of black people to Brazil, in different aspects: historical, social, economic and cultural.
The date was proposed by Grupo Palmares, in reference to the death of Zumbi de Palmares, a quilombola leader murdered by bandeirantes.
On December 21, 2023, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva established the date as a national holiday.
