Former president says that the “discussion is valid”, but “he cannot say” where “we will get” with the PEC that proposes to end the journey
The former president (MDB) said that the 6 X 1 working day (6 days of work for 1 day of rest) “It’s a bit of an exaggeration”. The statement was given on Monday (Nov. 18, 2024) to journalists.
When asked about the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) with the 6 x 1 matchday, Temer replied: “I think 6×1, in all honesty, is a bit of an exaggeration. The discussion is valid, without a doubt, now where it will go, I couldn’t say”.
In 2010, when he presided over the Chamber of Deputies, Temer presented a project that envisaged gradually reducing the weekly workload. “This was discussed for about 6 or 7 months and, in the end, I even proposed an intermediate way, which was to reduce it to 42 hours, which also did not produce results.”, said the former president on Monday (Nov 18).
When he assumed the Presidency of the Republic, Temer carried out a labor reform. The weekly working hours, however, remained the same.
The PEC on the 6 X 1 scale is headed by the deputy (Psol-SP). Currently, the Federal Constitution establishes a journey of 8 hours a daywith a total weekly load of 44 hours. The project aims to reduce this journey to 36 hours weekly. Here is it (PDF – 175 kB).
The idea for the proposal arose from the demand of the VAT (Life Beyond Work) movement, a popular movement founded by the Rio councilor (Psol-RJ).
