The brutal intervention of the security forces against the permitted demonstration on November 17, 1989 in Prague started events that fundamentally changed the direction of society. They led to the definitive fall of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia and started social changes leading to the peaceful division of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic into two separate states. On Sunday On November 17, 2024, 35 years have passed since these events.
The day of the struggle for freedom and democracy was commemorated by many famous personalities, among them the moderator Adela Vinczeová. “Today is an important day. In this photo, I am not yet enjoying freedom and democracy. You can clearly see it on me,” she wrote on Instagram on Sunday with a picture from her childhood. “But here, after November 89, one can already see satisfaction and obvious well-being. Two hair elastics,” she continued at the shot where she was bigger.
“And today we stop seeing something. So I won’t list statuses, but I very sincerely want to highlight people who are doing something to preserve democracy. It is, for example, also Viktor Vincze and his colleagues,” she added with the third photo, where she is already an adult with a mask over her eyes. She hit the stop sign for her husband in the Let’s Dance show, after which she also refused to cooperate. But that’s not all. In addition to Kovačič, the main face of dissatisfied editors on television and its news was the presenter of Televízny Novín Viktor Vincze. He stayed in Markíz after his colleague was fired and announced the news.
“Viktor is already the chairman of the trade union. In fact, it’s been like that for months, but now it’s official. Since the Markíza management gave me notice, it didn’t make sense for me to continue leading the union that we founded together with Viktor Vincz and Adel Ghannam. Viktor has been handling the entire agenda for a long time. But it took a while before everything was officially resolved. It’s already happened, he also has the rest of the necessary documents and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that together with Gabika Kajtárová they will succeed in doing as much as possible,” Kovačič wrote on the social network.
