The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) removed from the agenda, at this Tuesday’s public meeting, the process that could force shareholders of six distributors to contribute a total of R$10.25 billion to these companies. The decision will affect the companies Enel RJ, Light, Neoenergia Brasília, Neoenergia Pernambuco, Energisa Rondônia and Energisa Acre.
No new deadline was given for the resumption of the discussion. At the last meeting, there was a request for a view from director Agnes Aragão da Costa. The Agency’s regulations establish a period of up to eight sessions to return to the agenda, but there is the possibility of successive extensions.
The obstacle in voting on the process was the deadline for contributions to companies. The director-rapporteur, Fernando Mosna, voted for the 90-day deadline, accompanied by director Ricardo Tili. Director Agnes Aragão da Costa defended the 180-day deadline.

The amounts are necessary, according to the regulator, to reverse non-compliance with efficiency criteria in economic-financial management for the calendar years 2022 and 2023. According to the contractual and regulatory provisions, non-compliance may be reversed through capital contributions aimed at reduction of companies’ net debt.
According to the numbers that may be reviewed by the technical area, Enel RJ shareholders may be required to make a contribution of R$2.8 billion, and those of Light a contribution of R$4.3 billion. In parallel, R$1.1 billion is expected for Neoenergia Brasília; R$124 million for Neoenergia Pernambuco; R$1.5 billion for Energisa Rondônia; and R$430 million for Energisa Acre.
